In North America, if the electric vehicle is connected to a level 1 or 2 EVSE to charge the battery, the protective measures for ground fault set out in UL2231-1 & -2 must be complied with. GFI circuits are based on differential current sensing. In the EVSE industry they are classified as CCIDs, or charge current interrupting devices. In North America there is a CCID5 and a CCID20. These trigger at 5mA or at 20mA ground fault current, respectively. The 20 mA trip is allowed when an additional ground check circuit has been installed to monitor for ground wire integrity. Note, the US based CCID devices are only required to trigger
on AC current.
Product Introduction
This is an AC/DC leakage sensor that complies with the UL2231-2 standard, and its leakage protection type is CCID20. The AC leakage protection threshold is 15~20mA, and the DC leakage protection threshold is 40×1.414=56.56mA. It also protects against mixed leakage current and high-frequency leakage. When the leakage current in the line reaches the above alarm threshold, it will output a leakage alarm signal (open collector output). In addition, it has a self-test function, which can be used to determine in real time whether the sensor is in a normal working state. So this leakage sensor will be safer and more reliable in the field of leakage protection.
This series of products is mainly used in US standard EV charger, solar panel and other fields. We are committed to providing simple, safe and reliable leakage protection solutions for the safety of electricity use for the majority of users.
